So if you are wondering about the title of this review and if I enjoyed the game, yes I did. I played the game all of the way through and beat it, but not 100% completion. I enjoyed the game thoroughly and plan on even playing it again, but I just wish there was more and I will get to that later on in the review. First off, you start off creating your own Hogwarts student whom is going to be attending their 5th, yes their 5th year at Hogwarts.

The character creation is pretty nice, I'm not gonna lie. You start from a preset, just like any other game and then customize that preset to match what you want them to look like. After that you start the game and not in Hogwarts I might add. Its actually kind of fun because you get to have a bit of journey on the way to the school and learn a bit of the story. I enjoyed this bit a great deal because it let me explore a bit of how I wanted to play the character before being tied down to any one house. Once you do get to the school, you will take place in the good old sorting ceremony. There are two options for this, you can either do it on the website for truly the best result or take the 3 question quiz in the game.

After that you will decide if you are okay with the choice made by the hat and go and sit with your house. After that the real game starts you could say. You get to meet classmates along with one on the Weasleys' ancestors as this game takes place before the books. She is the one helping you with your studies. She gives you a book that will help keep progress of how well you adapt to the school along with keep track of pretty much everything, aka the menu of the game.

This will be where you access everything from how your character levels up, to your gear, to keeping track of quests, etc. This is the most important thing in the game and its good to check it often as often you will get rewards in the game for completing collections or challenges or quests and they will be in here. The map is also a vital thing in the game as once you get your broom, you will want to fly almost everywhere so that you can just teleport/use the floo system to move around.

The map is huge and coves a lot of ground. This is the best one that I could find, and trust me that it doesn't even cover all of it as you can see that part of it is cut off. This means that you will be doing a lot of traveling if you are trying to 100% the game. I will say this much, there is a lot to do but the game only takes place during the 5th year, that is it, nothing more so keep that in mind. Also depending on your house and choices you might not get to go to places in the game.
This happened to me, I won't say where, but it can happen. As for learning spells, that is pretty interesting as you have to trace the spells to learn it as seen below. Once you learn it, then you will get to test it. Also you don't have to learn every spell only the ones that are required, but I did learn all of the spells in my playthrough as it made the game more fun and gave me more options.

As for combat, you get to have 4 spells in your load-out at all times but you can swap them constantly between 3 sets once you have each set unlocked. I used my points to unlock those sets quickly so that I could have access to all of the spells that I could need in any given situation.

There is also potions, or plants that you can equip to use in battle as well. You will also get a room where you can make potions along with growing plants so that you will almost never run out of whatever you need to keep in stock, or at least I never did. If you are wondering about magical creatures, yes you get to tame them and keep them in that same room as well.
As for the story, you are a magical student whom has never gone to school but are now starting thanks to Professor Flinch. It also seems that you have ancient magic inside of you that you are able to activate. After starting at the school, you learn that a faction of the goblins are after this same magic so you do your best to keep it safe along with keeping your friends and the school safe as well. You might even recognize a face or two from the books/film. I won't go more into the story as I don't want to spoil it.
I guess my main issue is that the game ends at year 5 and left me wanting to play more. I wanted to go into years 6 and 7 with my character. I hope that one day maybe the creators will put out an update or DLC that will be those years so that we can go back to Hogwarts and experience those years with our characters. It would be even better if we could play with friends.
I give the game a 4/5.
